Meet the artist
David Cronenberg
David Cronenberg emerged in the 1970s as part of Canada’s growing independent cinema movement, developing a distinct style that blends psychological intensity with grotesque physical transformations.
Cronenberg’s early works, such as Shivers or The Brood, explore parasitic and psychological horrors, often reflecting societal anxieties through the human body.
In the 1980s, he gained international acclaim with films like Scanners, Videodrome and The Fly. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, he expanded his themes into psychological thrillers A History of Violence and Eastern Promises. Today he is renowned for his pioneering work in the body horror genre.
